Common questions

How do I calculate eBay fees and profit?

Choose the supported category and your Store plan, enter the item price, buyer-paid shipping and sales tax, then add your costs. The calculator applies the category’s marginal or whole-amount rule, adds one per-order fee and any entered advertising or other platform fees. Profit is revenue excluding tax, less fees and costs.

What does this worked example include?

A Home & Garden sale of $100, $10 buyer-paid shipping and $8.80 sales tax has a $118.80 fee base. With no Store, the estimated final value percentage fee is $16.16, plus a $0.40 order fee. Seller proceeds are $93.44. Subtracting $40 item cost, $8 shipping and $1.50 packaging gives $43.94 net profit. Insertion and seller-specific fees are not included unless entered. Load these inputs.

Does eBay charge fees on shipping and sales tax?

In the supported US domestic scenario, both generally enter the fee base. Sales tax is not included in seller revenue. The shipping exceptions are explained in the shipping and tax guide.

Are fees and profit separate calculators?

No. Fees, proceeds and profit describe the same order. This single calculator keeps the inputs and definitions consistent. Use Target price to work backward from a profit amount or margin.

Is ROI available when item cost is zero?

ROI uses all entered item, shipping, packaging and other costs. If their sum is zero, ROI is shown as N/A rather than an infinite or invented percentage.

Can this estimate every eBay order?

No. It supports the listed fee groups for US-registered domestic sellers using the dated rule snapshot. Mixed-category orders, eBay Live, vehicles, NFTs, international and Authenticity Guarantee shipping scenarios are excluded. Read the complete scope.
