A lower commission is not the same as more profit. Compare one item at the same price, then account for the postage or shipping discount you actually pay on each platform.

Standard US Poshmark commission: $2.95 on a sale under $15, or 20% at $15 or more. Official Poshmark seller FAQ, read 2026-10-16. Same item cost and packaging/other cost as the calculator above. Poshmark delivery and extras are separate. eBay Store subscriptions are not allocated. Sale likelihood, audience, returns, optional advertising and buyer charges are not predicted.
For ordinary clothing with no Store, eBay takes 13.6% of the supported fee base up to $7,500 per item, then 2.35% of the portion above it, plus an order fee. Shipping and sales tax generally enter that base. Basic and higher Store rates differ. Poshmark’s US seller FAQ states a $2.95 commission for sales under $15 and 20% for sales of $15 or more. This comparison uses one item’s sale price for Poshmark commission and keeps buyer-paid label charges outside seller revenue.
With $0 buyer shipping and tax, eBay no-Store fees are $3.12. Poshmark commission is $4.00. At an $8 item cost, $1 packing cost and $5 seller-paid delivery on each platform, estimated profit is $2.88 on eBay and $2.00 on Poshmark. If the Poshmark buyer pays the standard label and you contribute $0 instead, that Poshmark estimate becomes $7.00. That difference comes from who pays shipping, not from a lower commission.
| Sale price | Poshmark commission | eBay clothing, no Store |
|---|---|---|
| $10.00 | $2.95 | $1.66 |
| $14.99 | $2.95 | $2.44 |
| $15.00 | $3.00 | $2.44 |
These three fee-only cases have no buyer shipping, tax, advertising or extras. Profit still requires your item, delivery and packing costs. The calculator rounds monetary fees to cents.
This is not a recommendation to list on the platform with the largest displayed profit. Achievable prices, buyer demand, time to sell, returns, allowed items, authentication rules and optional promotions can change the outcome. The comparison supports a single item and $0 buyer-paid shipping on eBay so it does not silently equate the platforms’ different shipping flows. Enter separate Poshmark seller delivery contributions and known extras. Bundles and unsupported eBay orders do not receive a comparison.
Read Poshmark’s official seller FAQ and eBay’s standard and Store fee tables, checked 2026-10-16. For fashion categories, see ordinary clothing fees; athletic shoes and handbags have separate rules. Use the Store comparison before treating a lower Store percentage as net subscription savings.
