eBay Promoted Listings Fees: General vs Priority
An ad rate is not a fee on every order. Keep the campaign strategy, attribution and actual spend separate.
General: a percentage on an attributed sale
eBay’s General strategy uses a rate applied to the total sale amount, including shipping and applicable taxes. Its current help page describes a charge when a promoted item sells within 30 days of an ad click; a click can include other interactions with the ad.
Check the attribution conditions in your seller account and current campaign rules. The calculator cannot see the interaction history or confirm attribution for you.
- Choose General under Advertising.
- Enter your applicable rate between 2% and 100%.
- Check the attribution box only when you want to include an attributed fee.
For example, 2% of a $118.80 total sale is $2.38 after our rounding. A $43.94 profit before ads becomes $41.56 after that ad charge, with every other input held fixed.
Priority: actual spend, not a percentage of sales
Priority is charged on clicks. A sale price, profit target or chosen percentage cannot reveal your actual campaign spend. Enter the click spend you allocate to this order instead.
If you spent money without a resulting sale, you may want to allocate that spend across orders in your own bookkeeping. This calculator does not choose that allocation or turn it into a predicted acquisition cost.
Compare the same order with and without ads
Use Compare with ads in the results. For a General scenario it assumes an attributed sale at the rate currently entered. For Priority it uses the actual amount you entered. The comparison holds sale price, buyer shipping, tax and costs fixed.
That difference shows a profit tradeoff. It does not predict ad placement, extra sales, conversion rate or return on ad spend. A lower margin can be worthwhile only if the real incremental sales support it.

Attribution rules and campaign options can change. Refer to the official campaign help and the fee shown in your own transaction record. This release does not retrieve campaign history or automatically infer attribution.
